The Korana River, stretching 134 kilometers, is a true oasis of untouched nature and rich history. From the rapids in Slunj, through majestic waterfalls, to the calm waters near Karlovac – where it flows into the Mrežnica and then the Kupa – Korana offers an unforgettable adventure. Its proximity to Plitvice Lakes National Park makes it even more special, as part of its flow originates from this natural wonder.

A Unique Tour – A Blend of Nature and Culture The day begins in Karlovac with a visit to the Homeland War Museum, where you’ll learn more about the history of the region. The kayaking tour starts from the museum, taking you along the peaceful flow of the Korana River through beautiful landscapes, ending at the city Aquarium. A healthy, locally sourced meal will recharge your energy for the rest of the day. The tour continues with a visit to the old town center of Karlovac, a walk through the historic castle, and an introduction to the city’s rich heritage. There will also be time to relax – grab a coffee and explore local crafts and products before returning.

This trip is perfect for families, friends, and anyone who loves adventure, kayaking, and history.

Equipment We Use

We use kayaks designed for two adults and one child. These kayaks are very stable and easy to handle. Each kayak is equipped with a waterproof bag or container (barrel) for cameras and similar items. Each group is accompanied by one or two guides, depending on the group size. Every participant receives a helmet, paddle, and life jacket. In case of colder or windy weather, protective gear such as a neoprene suit will be provided.

Description

Tour difficulty: Moderate – average physical fitness required

Duration: 7–8 hours

Season: April 1st – October 31st

Location: Karlovac – Homeland War Museum, Aquarium, Dubovac Castle, Korana River Distance from major cities: Zagreb (110 km), Rijeka (55 km)

Group size: Minimum 4, maximum 14 people per group. If the group has fewer than 4 participants but the client still wishes to proceed, the tour will be charged at the rate for 4 people. Minimum age: 10 years

What to bring: Considering the weather conditions, we recommend bringing a T-shirt (or a long-sleeved shirt in cooler weather), swimsuit, towel, spare socks, water sandals or sneakers, a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses (secured with a strap) for sun protection, as well as a waterproof camera. A change of clothes and footwear is also recommended.

Additional Information

All participants must be able to swim and are required to follow the instructions of the guide/skipper to ensure the safety of themselves and others. The skipper has both the right and the responsibility to deny boarding to anyone suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In such cases, no refunds will be issued. Each group is accompanied by an experienced guide/skipper responsible for training and safety throughout the tour. A waterproof bag or container is provided in the kayak for cameras and other valuables.

Canceling a Trip by Terra Croatica Adventure Travel

In case of extreme weather conditions, Terra Croatica Adventure Travel reserves the right to delay the date of performance of the activity, if possible for a day or two before or after the booked date. If the change of dates is not possible, your payments will be fully refunded. You can read other travel conditions on Terms of business.

Depending on the weather conditions and the water level, Terra Croatica Adventure Travel tour is performed with the appropriate boats:

Climate: Spring and summer are usually warm and sunny. From May to October temperatures are pleasant for nature activities. Rainy periods are always a possibility, so keep warm and suitable clothes with you.
