Dobra River – Cycling and Kayaking Adventure in Croatia!

The Dobra River, with its unique beauty and crystal-clear waters, both originates and ends entirely within Croatia. Stretching approximately 104 kilometers, it was once one of the best rivers for wild water adventures, and still impresses with its untouched nature, endemic flora and fauna, and ideal fishing conditions. Its green and shallow waters offer the feeling of a true European jungle!

Your adventure begins with a cycling tour from Karlovac, following a scenic route to the Dobra River. Upon arrival at the kayaking starting point, you’ll enjoy local delicacies and healthy food before beginning an exciting kayak descent back towards Karlovac.

This trip is the perfect blend of cycling, kayaking, and the natural beauty of Croatia – ideal for friends, families, and lovers of active holidays.

Equipment We Use

We use kayaks designed for two adults and one child. The kayaks are very stable and easy to handle. Each kayak is equipped with a waterproof bag or container (barrel) for cameras and similar items. Each group is accompanied by one or two guides, depending on the group size.

Every participant receives a helmet, paddle, and life jacket. In case of colder or windy weather, protective gear such as a neoprene suit and anorak will be provided. The bikes used are e-bikes, and participants will also be equipped with helmets and reflective vests.

Description

Tour difficulty: Moderate – average physical fitness required

Duration: 7–8 hours

Season: April 1st – October 31st

Location: Karlovac, Priselci, Donje Pokupje, Dobra River

Distance from major cities: Zagreb (110 km), Rijeka (55 km)

Group size: Minimum 4, maximum 14 people per group. If the group has fewer than 4 participants but the client still wishes to proceed, the tour will be charged at the rate for 4 people. Minimum age: 10 years

What to bring: Due to weather conditions, we recommend bringing a T-shirt (or a long-sleeved shirt in cooler weather), swimsuit, towel, spare socks, water sandals or sneakers, a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses (secured with a strap) for sun protection, as well as a waterproof camera. We also suggest bringing a change of clothes and footwear.

Additional Information

All participants must know how to swim and follow the instructions of the guide/skipper to avoid putting themselves or others at risk. The skipper has the right and responsibility to deny access to the kayak to anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In such cases, no refunds will be issued. Each group is accompanied by an experienced guide/skipper responsible for safety and pre-tour instruction. A waterproof bag or container is provided in the kayak for cameras and other small personal items.

Canceling a Trip by Terra Croatica Adventure Travel

In case of extreme weather conditions, Terra Croatica Adventure Travel reserves the right to delay the date of performance of the activity, if possible for a day or two before or after the booked date. If the change of dates is not possible, your payments will be fully refunded. You can read other travel conditions on Terms of business.

Depending on the weather conditions and the water level, Terra Croatica Adventure Travel tour is performed with the appropriate boats:

• raft capacity of 6-10 persons

Climate: Spring and summer are usually warm and sunny. From May to October temperatures are pleasant for nature activities. Rainy periods are always a possibility, so keep warm and suitable clothes with you.
